{"id":596,"date":"2012-06-13T16:22:10","date_gmt":"2012-06-13T16:22:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mindfulvoyagecounseling.net\/?p=596"},"modified":"2012-07-16T01:44:19","modified_gmt":"2012-07-16T01:44:19","slug":"a-little-everyday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mindfulvoyagecounseling.net\/?p=596","title":{"rendered":"A Little Everyday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">When you think of meditation what comes to mind?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I don&#8217;t have time.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t sit still.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t seem to calm down or feel relaxed.\u00a0 It is not possible for me to sit for forty-five minutes.\u00a0 I get distracted, irritable, agitated, heavy hearted, restless.\u00a0 I do not think it will work for me.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If any of these reasons have crossed your mind, you are not alone.\u00a0 Many people feel very challenged about sitting meditation because they feel they lack the ability to do it &#8220;right&#8221;.\u00a0 Either we think we do not have what it takes or we lack sufficient motivation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Meditation is a practice similar to physical exercise and it also takes time and repeated practice to make it\u00a0 a habit and to become part of our daily lives.\u00a0 We are accustomed to thinking, planning, imagining, and gathering information.\u00a0 We are not often in the non-doing or non-reactive mode.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">When we practice a meditative mode, we will usually encounter various levels of resistance.\u00a0 This is true for beginners as well as very experienced\u00a0 meditators.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The best way to start is to do a little every day.\u00a0 You can try by practicing a three minutes check on your thoughts, feelings, and body sensations\u00a0before you get out of bed or before you go to sleep for the first week.\u00a0 When you feel more comfortable you can increase from three minutes to five minutes or more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">By practicing a little each day, you will be gently introducing your\u00a0body and mind\u00a0to a new way of being.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When you think of meditation what comes to mind?
