The Journey<\/i><\/b>

\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
One day you finally knew
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
what you had to do, and began,
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
though the voices around you
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
kept shouting
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
their bad advice–
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
though the whole house
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
began to tremble
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
and you felt the old tug
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
at your ankles.
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
“Mend my life!”
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
each voice cried.
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
But you didn’t stop.
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
You knew what you had to do,
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
though the wind pried
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
with its stiff fingers
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
at the very foundations,
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
though their melancholy
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
was terrible.
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
It was already late
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
enough, and a wild night,
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
and the road full of fallen
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
branches and stones.
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
But little by little,
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
as you left their voices behind,
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
the stars began to burn
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
through the sheets of clouds,
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
and there was a new voice
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
which you slowly
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
recognized as your own,
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
that kept you company
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
as you strode deeper and deeper
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
into the world,
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
determined to do
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
the only thing you could do–
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
determined to save
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
the only life you could save.<\/span><\/div>\n
