Biography

I received my Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Seattle Antioch University in 2009.  I was a co-facilitator of a Mindfulness Based Cognitive Group Therapy for Depression at the University of Washington and provided counseling to children, adolescent/teens, and families.  Aside from private practice, I also provided mental health counseling at behavioral health clinics to people in substance abuse recovery programs as well as to couples and families.

I am experienced in working with culturally diverse populations at community mental health clinics, private behavioral health clinics, and primary care behavioral health clinics.  In addition to English, I am fluent in Cantonese.  I have provided counseling in a collaborative way with primary care providers to children, adolescent/teens, adults, couples, pregnant women, elder adults, and people with disabilities.

I worked effectively with patients to manage depression, anxiety, chronic illness and pain. I received specialize training in working with trauma, abuse, and PTSD. I have provided services to clients for: prenatal and postpartum depression, stress reduction, wellness education, relational problems, blended family issues, academic and work issues, grief and loss, managing medication, and life transitions.

Prior to entering the counseling field I had twenty years experience working in both public agencies and private businesses. Assisting and sharing my clients’ process of healing and growth has been the most rewarding work I have ever done.

In my free time, I enjoy hiking, kayaking, photography, reading, being outdoors, cooking, and painting.

Please feel free to contact me to discuss your concerns and see how I can be of help to you.
